Superhero Splash and Dash Virtual Race

A DIY race experience where every child feels like a superhero crossing the finish line!

Looking for a fun DIY race experience for your child during COVID-19? CORE Foundation is here to save the day! We’ve turned our 4th annual Reston Youth Superhero Splash and Dash into a fun-filled “virtual’ experience with the power and excitement of our in-person event.
Participants complete the activities for the virtual event on their own time in the place of their choosing and still receive all of the great swag and medals that they would in a live experience.
After registering for the event, a superhero swag kit will be mailed to your home. Included with your registration is:
DIY Event Kits include:
- Cape
- Bandana/mask
- Race medal
- Superhero crafts
- Jump rope
- Sidewalk chalk
- Crayons or colored pencils
- Finish line tape to create a virtual finish line
- Instructions
So, how does a Virtual DIY Event work? The traditional Superhero Splash and Dash features a swim-run-fun format for kids ages 5-15.
No pool? No problem! Substitute the swim with your “athlete’s choice” of activity. Your young superhero will swim (hopscotch, bike, play catch, etc.…) and then run the suggested distance based on their age anytime between August 1st - August 30th. Your young athlete may even have so much fun that they decide to race again and again! The point is to have fun and get moving and have them feel fantastic about their achievement.

Parents or older siblings can map out distances by using a smartphone or sports watch. The event will focus on participation rather than competition and making every athlete feel like a superhero.

$40 - after July 1st

NOTE: If you know of a child who is need of a scholarship to participate, we are offering this experience to them FREE OF CHARGE. Please refer the child to us at info@corefoundation.org to request a scholarship. Additional donations to pay it forward are welcome. We believe that EVERY child should have a chance to cross the finish line feeling like a superhero!
Proceeds for the event benefit CORE Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity. CORE's mission is to ignite and support charitable projects which address societal needs, build community, and enable positive change.
