For the Love of Tri Race Description
Join us FOR THE LOVE OF TRI, an indoor triathlon, on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Reston YMCA at 9 am. There is no better time than now to set your sights on giving tri a try or to extend your triathlon season if you are an avid triathlete or returning to the sport. The best reward is that after 60 minutes YOU will be a triathlete, receive a medal, and have a lot of fun while achieving your goal.FOR THE LOVE OF TRIEVENT INFORMATIONEvent Date: Sunday, February 16thTime: 9:00 am startLocation: The Reston YMCA, 12196 Sunset Hills Road, Reston, VAPacket pick-up at the Reston YMCA:Saturday, February 15th from 9-12 amRegistration Fees:
- $50 registration (non-members welcome)
- Plus USAT membership or one day pass
- An optional donation can be made at check-out
- No refunds, no deferrals
FOR THE LOVE OF TRI is part of USA Triathlon’s Tri360 program! A USA Triathlon membership or one-day pass is required (HINT: We are planning a “series” of events so you *may* want to look at an annual membership!) and is for ages 15+ as of 12/31/2020.Swag:As a participant you will receive some awesome gear probably worth more than your entry:
- A ROKA bag
- ROKA goggles
- ROKA swim cap
- BARE Snacks
- Swag from Patient First
- A medal
- Massage and stretching from The Jackson Clinics
Light finish line snacks with your fellow athletes will be provided.FOR THE LOVE OF TRI activity breakdown:
- 10 minute indoor swim
- 10 minute transition to bike
- 30 minute ride on stationary bike
- 10 minute transition to run
- 20 minute run on treadmill
Scoring and Awards: Participants are graded on a weighted curve The furthest distance in each category receives the most points and the shortest receives one point. Your “score” for the discipline is based on the points you achieve.
Age group awards will be offered as follows: Under 39, 40–49, 50–59, Over 60.
Best Costume: It's Valentine's Day weekend and love is in the air! If you don't win an age group award, you've got a shot at winning a costume award with the theme "For the Love of Tri!" and/or Valentine's Day. Costumes are optional for the bike and run. But, no make-up in the pool please.
Why Tri? This is a GREAT time to give tri a try! And, we want to know your story of “Y you tri.” Share it with us and be entered in a drawing to win some prizes including entries to future events in our series to be announced very soon! Send your story of “Y you tri” along with a photo to info@corefoundation.org.
