Reston Trick or Tri Race Description
YMCA Reston and CORE Foundation have teamed up to produce a new multi-sport event, the Reston Trick-or-Tri. This in door triathlon will take place on Sunday, October 27th at 9 a.m.! There is no better time to set your sights on giving tri a try than now or to extend your triathlon season if you are an avid triathlete or returning to the sport. The best reward is that after after 60 minutes YOU will be a triathlete, receive a medal, and have a lot of fun while achieving your goal.TRICK-OR-TRI EVENT INFORMATIONEvent Date: Sunday, October 27thTime: 9:00 am startPacket pick-up:Friday, October 25th from 5-7Saturday, October 26th from 9-11Registration Fees:$35 registration - YMCA non-member$50 registration - non-member+ USAT Membership or one day passAn optional donation can be made at check-outThe trick-or-tri is part of USA Triathlon’s Tri360 program! A USA Triathlon Membership or one-day pass is required (HINT: We are planning a “series” of events so you *may* want to look at an annual membership!) and is for ages 15+ as of 12/31/2019.Swag:As a participant you will receive some awesome gear probably worth more than your entry:
- A ROKA bag
- ROKA goggles
- ROKA swim cap
- BARE Snacks
- swag from Patient First
- A medal
- Massage and stretching fromThe Jackson Clinics
Light finish line snacks with your fellow athletes will be provided.The trick-or-tri activity breakdown:
- 10 minute indoor swim
- 10 minute transition to bike
- 30 minute ride on stationary bike
- 10 minute transition to run
- 20 minute run on treadmill
Scoring and Awards: Participants are graded on a weighted curve The furthest distance in each category receives the most points and the shortest receives one point. Your “score” for the discipline is based on the points you achieve.
Age group awards will be offered as follows: 15 - 25, 26–39, 40–49, 50–59, Over 60.
Best Costume: If you don't win an age group award, you've got a shot at winning a costume award! Costumes are optional for the bike and run. But, no make-up in the pool please.
Volunteer: If you have friends, family or teens that would like to volunteer have them sign up HERE. Costumes are encouraged.
Why Tri? This is a GREAT time to give tri a try! And, we want to know your story of “Y you tri.” Share it with us and be entered in a drawing to win some prizes including entries to future events in our series to be announced very soon! Send your story of “Y you tri” along with a photo to info@corefoundation.org.
